Davidson High School Receives Highest Recognition from the Educational Theatre Association!

Davidson Theatre was presented with the Gold Honor Thespian Troupe Award at the Ohio State Thespian Conference on Sunday, March 25.
This award, presented by the Educational Theatre Association, given to honor work done during the previous school year, is the highest distinction available to an entire theatre program and was only presented to six high school theatre departments across the state.
To qualify, theatre programs had to demonstrate excellence in theatrical production, perform acts of community service, create at least one new and innovative project every year, perform at least one educational/social service play per school year, tour at least one production to multiple venues during the season, and work within their communities to create a positive impression of the program and the goals of high school theatre – as well has maintaining and inducting a roster of new students into the International Thespian Society – the honor society for high school theatre.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Davidson has earned the distinction.

Hilliard Theatre collects 2900 POUNDS of food!

Students from all three of Hilliard High School theatre programs high participated in the International Thespian Society’s Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat program.
On Halloween, the students went trick-or-treating in their neighborhoods, but instead of asking for candy, they asked for non-perishable food goods.
The students were able to donate over 2900 pounds of nonperishable foods to the Hilliard food pantry - our highest total yet!

On October 31, Thespians from Davidson, Darby, and Bradley collected a total of 1685 pounds of canned and dry goods for the Hilliard Food Pantry.
Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat is a national community service program for ITS-member schools to collect canned and dry goods for local charities and food banks. Thousands of pounds of food were collected across the state, giving theatre students the ability to help their local communities.

Davidson Theatre Earns Ohio EdTA Gold Troupe Award for the Sixth Time!
On March 13 at the Ohio State Thespian Conference, Hilliard Davidson was again presented with the Gold Troupe Award. This honor is given to thespian troupes that annually meet a stringent set of criteria in areas ranging from public service to innovative projects to touring a production.

Davidson Theatre Students Paint Mural at willow ridge THERAPEUTIC riding
Willow Ridge Therapeutic Riding offers equine therapy serving individuals from those with physical disabilities through those on the autism spectrum. They have both an indoor and an outdoor riding facility to be able to offer these services in all weather, year round.
Davidson Theatre was asked to put some our scene painting skills to work and paint a large mural on the barrier surrounding the indoor facility. As soon as our fall production of Fools was over, and with a little help from students from Davidson's chapters of Key Club and NHS, we got to work in coloring book style.

Still a work in progress, the process began in mid November by projecting the outlines of the mural background on the barrier.
UPDATE (12/5/15): We began to fill in that background with color. Soon the background will be complete and we can begin adding horses, trees, and other scenic elements.
UPDATE (12/12/15): On the third day of painting, students from both Darby and Bradley's theatre troupes joined us! Thanks guys!!
UPDATE (5/21/16): It's finished! It took 5 days of painting, but we finally finished all 1400 square feet!

Thank you to The Glen for inviting The Giggle Factory to perform at their annual block party on Sept 20! We had a wonderful time!
DAVIDSON THEATRE HELPING THE HILLIARD POLICE TO KEEP OUR SCHOOLS SAFE
On Tuesday May 5, Davidson Theatre helped the Hilliard Police Department begin safety training for all Hilliard City School employees.
Theatre students created a classroom stage set and after working with the police department at a training session, enacted several live action threat scenarios to accompany and illustrate key concepts in the all-day staff training.
We are so proud to have been able to a part of this wonderful and meaningful project to help make our schools an even safer place to learn!

DAVIDSON AND BRADLEY THEATRE Both RECEIVE THE GOLD TROUPE AWARD

Only four schools in Ohio received the Gold Troupe distinction from the Educational Theatre Association this year. Two of those four schools were in Hilliard.

Davidson THeatre 2014 Fourth of July Parade
Davidson Theatre students donned High School Musical costumes, grabbed our home made Tardis and a couple of Daleks and marched in the Hilliard 2014 July 4th parade - Hot, but a lot of fun!
Midsummer/Jersey at Short North Stage
Before we brought our production of Midsummer/Jersey to Scotland to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, we brought it downtown to the Short North Stage for a special fundraising performance.
TOTS-EAT 2013
Every year the Hilliard High School Theatre Departments band together to collect canned goods at Halloween for the Mid Ohio Food Bank as part of the Educational Theatre Association's annual Trick-or-Treat-so-Kids-Can-Eat campaign. We collected over ONE TON of food! Afterwards we all came back to Davidson for a Haloween party!
